Project Description

Ibis Styles Leeds Virtual Concierge is a personal project demonstrating how AI-powered digital assistants can transform the hospitality guest experience. This concept platform reimagines hotel service delivery by combining cutting-edge conversational AI with intelligent automation and modern design principles.

The project began with a clear vision: to showcase how hotels could provide guests with instant, intelligent assistance at any hour while reducing reception workload and creating a modern, premium touchpoint. Unlike generic chatbots, this system demonstrates hotel-specific context understanding, from room availability and pricing to local attractions and in-house dining.

I designed and developed the complete system from concept to functional prototype, focusing on creating an experience that feels less like interacting with a bot and more like having a knowledgeable concierge available in your pocket. The interface features a glassmorphic design with premium animations and thoughtful UX patterns that guide guests naturally through common requests.

The frontend was built as a custom React component with a modular design system, featuring card-based responses for clarity, quick-action buttons for common requests (room service, housekeeping, local info), and smooth escalation paths to human staff when needed. The AI assistant integrates with Anthropic’s Claude API, providing natural, context-aware responses that understand guest intent and hotel operations.

Beyond the chat interface, the system includes intelligent automation for common workflows. Users can check breakfast times, request information about amenities, get parking details, and explore local attractions, all through natural conversation. The platform demonstrates peak-hour handling by displaying emergency contact information, showing how critical issues can always escalate to human assistance.

The outcome is a fully functional prototype of an AI-enabled hospitality experience that bridges digital convenience with personalized service. This virtual concierge concept demonstrates the potential for 24/7 guest assistance systems in modern hotels, designed as a scalable, production-ready solution that could be deployed across hotel chains as a modern service delivery model.
