Project Overview

Silvermaris Logistics is a comprehensive enterprise digital platform built for a UK-based logistics company offering nationwide delivery services. The platform serves as both a professional customer-facing website and a full business management system, handling everything from instant shipping quotes to mentor program enrollment and subcontractor onboarding.

This project was built from the ground up as a modern full-stack web application using React with TypeScript on the frontend, Express.js on the backend, and PostgreSQL for data persistence — all deployed on a single unified server.

The Challenge

The client needed a single platform that could:

• Provide instant, accurate shipping quotes from multiple UK carriers
• Allow customers to track shipments in real time
• Process payments securely online
• Support an AI-powered customer service chatbot available 24/7
• Handle consultation bookings and mentor program enrollment
• Manage subcontractor/driver applications
• Support a global audience with multi-language translations
• Give administrators a dashboard to manage all operations

Key Features Built

Real-Time Shipment Tracking
Customers enter a tracking number and instantly see their shipment status with a visual progress timeline, route details, and estimated delivery dates. The tracking system supports multiple shipment statuses including picked up, in transit, out for delivery, and delivered.

AI Customer Support Chatbot – “Sarah”
An intelligent chatbot named Sarah powered by OpenAI, capable of tracking shipments, generating quotes, booking consultations, taking orders, and escalating to human agents. Sarah uses simple, clear English and maintains conversation history across sessions. Built with intent detection, structured JSON responses, and quick-reply buttons for common actions.

EasyPost-Powered Quote Engine
The primary pricing engine integrates with EasyPost to provide real-time rate shopping across multiple UK carriers including DPD UK, Royal Mail, Parcelforce, Hermes, Yodel, UPS, FedEx, and DHL Express. Customers select origin and destination from 20 major UK cities, enter package details, and receive carrier options with prices, delivery times, and guaranteed delivery badges. Falls back to a custom distance-based pricing engine with fuel surcharge, insurance, VAT, and peak season multipliers.

PayPal Payment Processing
Secure online payments via PayPal for consultation bookings and mentor program enrollment. Supports the full checkout flow including order creation, capture, and success confirmation with automated email receipts via Resend.

Consultation Booking System
An 18-service consultation catalogue with prices ranging from £60 to £260. Customers select a service, choose between Klarna (buy now, pay later) or PayPal, complete payment, and schedule their consultation on an interactive calendar.

Mentor Programs
Three mentorship tiers (3, 6, and 9 months) for aspiring logistics entrepreneurs, with pricing from £1,500 to £3,000. Full enrollment flow with PayPal checkout and onboarding instructions.

Subcontractor Applications
A dedicated application page for van owners to apply for delivery routes across major UK cities. Applications are stored in the database and viewable through the admin dashboard.

Push Notifications
Real-time shipment status updates via the Web Push API. Customers can subscribe to notifications for specific tracking numbers and receive alerts for status changes, delivery confirmations, and pickup reminders.

Multi-Language Support
Full translation coverage across 8 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, and Japanese. Every piece of UI text, button label, and system message is translated.

Admin Dashboard
A secure admin panel for managing quotes, shipments, contacts, subcontractor applications, mentor enrollments, and system analytics. Protected by admin secret authentication.

Dark/Light Theme
Complete dark and light mode support with a toggle in the header. All components, cards, and backgrounds adapt seamlessly between themes.

Automated Email Notifications
Transactional emails via Resend for booking confirmations, payment receipts, contact form submissions, and quote notifications.

Professional Document Generation
Server-side .docx generation for self-employment contracts with company letterhead.
